Designed for use as a latch for the cement forms used on foundations, we process the product highlighted here for a client in the construction industry.

This part features dimensions of 0.13″ in length x 4.25″ in width and is fabricated from 0.025″ thick low carbon 10B22 steel. Since we process a considerable volume of these parts, we utilize our computer controlled shaker furnace in order to achieve consistent mechanical and metallurgical properties from lot to lot. After heating the latch in a controlled atmosphere to 1,620°F, we quench the workpieces in an oil medium to provide the optimal proportion between hardness and toughness. Our automated furnace incorporates an integrated quench tank, and we keep the bath at a very uniform temperature to ensure process repeatability and consistent and predictable results for each production run.

The client specifications call for hardness of Rockwell C 36-39. Inside our quality lab, our technicians execute numerous tests to ensure we satisfy this requirement. We process 10,000 lbs. to 30,000 lbs. a month of this product for this client on a monthly basis, typically on a 7 to 10 day turnaround.
